Dual band wireless router comes with two frequency bands that are 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz that helps in catering more devices without interference. If such partitions are made, they ensure that different peripheral devices don’t interfere with each other and they work as two separate devices. Just like this, triband router supplies one more wireless router from dual band router. It provides one 2.4 GHz and two 5 GHz bands. Netgear Nighthawk X6 Ac3200 Wifi router is one example of Triband router.
There is some confusion regarding triband wireless router that is, if their speed is actually 3200 Mbps that is the sum of all three bands. Well, this is not the right supposition about speed of the triband wireless router. They may not be able to give such high speed but, they are capable to assist those users having millions of devices connected on their netwrok.

The chief purpose of triband wireless router is to prevent jamming of network. It is just like if there is traffic jam and all vehicles are badly stucked then, merely increasing speed of vehicles would not help in this scenario. Comparatively, adding another lane to divide traffic load would definitely help. Same is the working of triband wireless routers. They add extra lane to divide load of device over the network. If a person having more than 15 devices is working with dual band or even solo band router, then their speed will not have any impact on network quality as they don’t have an ability to manage greater number of devices. Whereas, a triband router besides providing higher speed, will also manage a greater number of devices and would improve network quality by averting network bottlenecking.

Since, dual band wifi routers also contain extra freuency band so, a question may come in many minds about the exact purpose of extra third band i-e 5 GHz band added in triband wireless routers. Its answer is concealed in a networking concept that WiFi speed is divided and shared equally among all devices of the network. Therefore, network can experience an obstruction too. So in case, if one device is playing videos or games and using more WiFi speed, it will cause reduction in net speed for other devices. Triband router can solve this issue by accomodating extra 5 GHz band and it is smart enough to divides devices among different bands according to their speed requirements. A triband router therefore, helps in increasing overall speed of network by entertaining all devices connected to the network.
Generally it is right to declare that increased numbers of bands on routers are better than having fewer of them. If users have higher number of linked devices on network or they want to have pauses free gaming and video streaming. Using triband wireless router would assist them in both situations.
